IKIGAI

Hey guys welcome back to my blog hope you guys are having an amazing start to the New Year thank you for taking out the time from your day to read this. Now I know the title may seem a little strange to some of you some you may know what it means, some of you may have googled it.

Ikigai it is a Japanese concept that translates to ‘a reason to live’. So I got this book ‘life’s amazing secrets’ By Gaur Gopal Das (You should check it out it is absolutely amazing) and this concept of Ikigai was introduced to me in there and I was fascinated by it. The thought that the Japanese have a whole concept on it blows my mind. Firstly , because I am a fan of Japanese culture and Gaur Gopal Das’s teachings so the 2 rolled in one for me was a real pleasure and the fact that I started this blog with one motive to tell people that ‘It’s never too late to start calling your own shots’ is so in sync with this teaching I just had to tell you guys about it.

So, Ikigai is not just about doing what you love as you may have seen from the chart it is really about answering 4 questions and finding balance between them these questions are:

What do you love?

What are you good at?

What does the world need?

What can you get paid for?

Finding the balance between the 4 is the route to having a life that one looks forward to living. Not everybody’s purpose will appear to have an impact on the world at first. You do not need to give up everything or make dramatic changes to start living your purpose. Your purpose does not neccesarily mean your job either. Love your job but keep a side hustle that makes you happy remember happiness is the key you do not want to have a side hustle just for the sake of having it you have to love it and it must serve the world too There are endless opportunities these days to follow your passion and live your purpose the internet is at your fingertips. If you want to know what is your purposr I recommend listening to Jay Shetty’s podcasts. There is line that he says that I absolutely love ‘When you do what you love it is your passion and when you use your passion to serve others it becomes a purpose’. There are a lot of Ikigai worksheets online that you can use but I found the one used in the book is the best.

That is it for this post guys keep growing, keep spreading positivity and most of all remember ‘It’s never too late to start calling your own shots’. Thank you for reading hit me up on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn if you have any questions or  tell me if you have any suggestions on what I should write next. Thank you and I’ll see you all next time.

  1. You’ve mentioned Ikigai pretty nicely Harshit. It’s pretty easy to understand this concept however it’s really tough to bring in to practice. I remember the first time I read about this was during my MBA. You’re doing a great job, keep blogging !
